Over priced (2003-08-25 - 11:55 a.m.)

The government is out to get us. Theyre killing us off slowly with out-of-control gas prices and astronomical cigarette costs. Are the car driving/ cigarette-smoking citizens of this fair city doomed to live in poverty due to high prices? I can remember paying $3.25 for a pack just a few years ago; I can also remember it costing me $16.00 to fill the tank of my car. When I saw the sign outside of Esso this week, stating that gas was now at 89.9, I had a conniption. My car went swerving into the breakdown lane, almost flattening an old lady pushing a walker. (Oh, well, theres 100 points that I wont be racking up. Ill get the kid riding a bike next time.)

Its gotten to the point that smoking weed is cheaper than smoking cigarettes, and lets not forget that its 10 times easier for a kid under 18 to buy drugs, than smokesbut thats a whole other entry. What in the hell is this world coming to? The government has all this anti-tobacco propaganda, telling you that youll die a horrible death if you smoke, canceling all tobacco company backed sporting events, because you know that every 13 year old kid will start smoking Players Light because theyre helping out the Indy racessure. Why cant they leave us alone, so we can inhale our poison in peace? Theyve already sectioned off T1m Hortins and other family rest tops with poorly ventilated aquariums for us smokers to sit in and enjoy our over priced coffees. Youve got to love that. You really feel like an equal while youre drinking your morning cup-a-joe, with a fishs view of the world, looking through smoke stained glass, to the world outside. A world where youve got to pay $50.00 to fill up your gas tank, a world where a six pack is the same price as a pack of smokes. And they wonder why Canada dropped from the worlds #1 country to live in.
